The Flower Festival for Buddha’s Birthday, Hana Matsuri
Under the Buddhist culture, most countries celebrate Buddha’s birthday in various ways. In Japan, It is called “Hana Matsuri”, meaning “Flower Festival”.
Unlike India or Nepal where the origin of Buddhism, Japan’s festival celebrate it in April. Because the country switched to a Gregorian calendar in 19th century.
That’s why Japan celebrates this holiday earlier than other Asian countries.
On this day, People decorate a statue of baby buddha pointing a finger at the sky, and another at the Earth.
