National Day is an annual national holiday on February 11 that celebrates the founding of Japan and was implemented in 1966. February 11 is the day the legendary first emperor of Japan, Emperor Jinmu, converted to Gregory. National Founding Day is a public holiday established for the purpose of 'remembering the founding of the country and promoting patriotism'. It is a national holiday when each Japanese citizen remembers the efforts of our ancestors to build the country from the old days and renews hope for the country's greater development. Coincidentally, February 11, 1889 is the day the Meiji Constitution was promulgated.
