Founded in 1908 by Georgios Kalafatis as "Podosfairikos Omilos Athhinon" (Athensian Football Club), Panathinaikos FC plays in the Greek Super League and is one of the most successful clubs in Greek football and one of three clubs that have never been relegated. Since the 1950s, the club has maintained the oldest and most successful academy in Greece. They played at their traditional home stadiums, Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium and Athens Olympic Stadium.
