Born in Hamburg in 1933, he moved to Paris at the age of 14, and at the age of 16 won first place in the women's coat category in a design contest organized by the International Wool Secretariat. Lagerfeld, who took this opportunity to work in haute couture, started as an assistant designer at Pierre Balmain, went on to head designer at Chloesa, and went through world famous brands such as Valentino and Valentine as a freelancer. In 1983, he took over as the artistic director of Chanel and showed the world his design world. And while respecting Chanel's traditional style, she succeeds in creating a new image of Chanel with her own colors. He also introduced Karl Lagerfeld, a brand that bears his name, through Preta Porte. Lagerfeld was known for his signature white hair, black sunglasses, fingerless gloves and a high starch, detachable collar. He is known as one of the most influential fashion designers of the second half of the 20th century.
