Rochette was born on January 13, 1986 in Montreal, Quebec. After her mother took her to the skating rink, she started skating when she was only two years old. In the 1999-2000 season, she became a skater by winning the 2000 Canadian Championship at the beginner level. She became the first Canadian female skater to win all the Novis, Junior, and Senior Championships. She won a bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics and became the fifth Canadian to win a medal in women's figure skating at the Olympics. In 2014, he made his debut as a commentator for CBC through the Winter Olympics.
