--
258 athletes from 16 countries participated in the first Winter Olympics. At that time, it did not get the name "Olympics" and was called "International Winter Sports Week." The birth of the Winter Olympics was not smooth. Just four days before the opening, the ice rink turned into a lake due to abnormal high temperatures, and the ski jumping ground turned into mud.
At that time, I had no choice but to rely on natural snow to play snow events such as skiing. Fortunately, the game could proceed as planned as the temperature dropped again. The event was a great success. On the second day, Charles Jutro of the U.S. won the men's 500m speed skating and won his first Winter Olympics gold medal.
